Coriolanus (2011)

60) Coriolanus (2011)

A banished hero of Rome allies with a sworn enemy to take his revenge on the city.

5/10 – This modern take on the Shakespearean play of the same name failed to tick the right boxes for me. It seemed cluttered, overacted and dragged out far too long. The only exemption was Vanessa Redgrave, who excelled in each scene she was in.

The dialogue was not a factor for me in scoring this either. While it was in it’s original ‘Shakespearean language’ and at times it was hard to understand, it was quite simple to join the dots.

It’s worth a watch if you’re into modern adaptations, have read or seen the play, or enjoy War movies. But overall, it just was not for me.
