61) Any Given Sunday (1999)
A behind the scenes look at the life and death struggles of modern day gladiators and those who lead them.
7/10 – What an odd synopsis. Call it what it is, it’s a sports movie about an aging Al Pacino who is trying to break a losing streak, while balancing the stress of on and off-field politics.
With a good cast, an eclectic soundtrack and about every single camera effect you could get your hands on in 1999 it makes for a fun movie. It does a sound job of depicting the personal challenges everyone faces, as we get a glimpse into what drives the players to put themselves in harms way, and how money can cloud both the managements and players better judgement.
Clichéd and over the top, but a satisfying watch.
