Tracks (2013)

246) Tracks (2013)

A young woman goes on a 1,700-mile trek across the deserts of West Australia with four camels and her faithful dog.

7/10 – A surprising true story, told in quite a non-sensationalist and honest way. Mia Wasikowska (The Double, Map to the Stars, Stoker) is excellent as usual, and puts in a believable performance that I would rank as one of her best. Other than those two points, there is very little to note about the film. It plods along without really generating any edge or potential unease about what is transpiring (aside from one scene), and the end result is quite a bland experience for such an exciting journey. If it were not for Mia and her camels, this would be distinctly average.
