Cold Eyes (2013)

245) Cold Eyes (2013) “Gam-si-ja-deul” (original title)

A high-tech police surveillance team attempts to take down a gang of ruthless bank robbers.

7/10 – Caught this at the Korean Film Festival a few weeks ago, and it was pretty good entertainment. As far as heist films go, the logistics and violence were up there with the best – a near perfect hybrid of blood and complex planning. In other Korean films violence is usually justified by some motive, no matter how extreme or irrational. In this instance there appeared to be no justification, no motive and no backstory to some, if not all of the characters in the film.

If you take it at face value, and don’t ask too many questions about it, you can have a lot of fun with this film. But by the end it may leave you wanting more.
