Beyond The Edge (2013)

232) Beyond The Edge (2013)

Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary’s monumental and historical ascent of Mt. Everest in 1953 – an event that stunned the world and defined a nation.

5/10 – A pretty formulaic retelling of an incredible achievement. By that I mean, it broke it down in a way that sucked all the excitement and all of the emotion out of the impressive feat. This was made for 3D, and I can see how the long, spanning views of the incredible scenery would have been great to see, but for me the appearance is half the battle. The storytelling was not up to par, and despite it’s fairly polished attempt at blending archival footage and recreation, it just missed something. For something so epic, I expected so much more.
