The Conspiracy (2012)

228) The Conspiracy (2012)

A documentary about conspiracy theories takes a horrific turn after the filmmakers uncover an ancient and dangerous secret society.

7/10 – A very weird and surreal found footage faux-documentary. Similar to the likes of Catfish in it’s apparent authenticity, but equally unnerving much like The Tunnel as it reaches it’s crescendo of nonsense. Some might catagorise this as a horror, others will presumably believe that there is a genuine mix of documentary and fiction in here, it’s difficult to pin down to one type – but one thing is for certain and that is it’s ability to create an unbelievable amount of unease in the audience. Rarely found in films of this nature.

Do yourself a favour, don’t watch the trailer and just watch the film (it’s been added to UK Netflix). You won’t believe how it ends. It’s stupid and ridiculous, yet I couldn’t stop watching.
