206) The Kings Of Summer (2013)
Three teenage friends, in the ultimate act of independence, decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land.
8/10 – Funny, at times very strange, and a lot of the time highly unbelievable. Excellent performances throughout from the three main kids, and it was great to see Nick Offerman essentially bring Ron Swanson into the big screen under a different guise. In terms of ‘coming of age’ films, people often compared this to The Way Way Back and there are similarities, but The Kings of Summer excels in it’s absurdness and the kids fantastical ideals of making a go of it. In my opinion, it makes for a much more entertaining film that you can truly immerse yourself in, but both are equally watchable.
