187) Night Moves (2014)
Three radical environmentalists look to execute the protest of their lives: the explosion of a hydroelectric dam.
7/10 – An intense, meticulous and suspenseful film. Jesse Eisenberg is as intense as ever, but is matched all the way by Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard’s performances. Between those three, the setting and their self-righteous intentions, you are taken on a bleak and slow journey where the tension is often unbearable. It’s all underpinned by what is a brooding and eerie score, which only heightens that sense of unwanted uncertainty.
Despite all that, there’s really not much to it, it’s very slow paced, but if you really focus on it and commit yourself to the film, you’ll find it quite powerful.
