180) Kick Ass 2 (2013)
The costumed high-school hero Kick-Ass joins with a group of normal citizens who have been inspired to fight crime in costume. Meanwhile, the Red Mist plots an act of revenge that will affect everyone Kick-Ass knows.
3/10 – This is the problem when your first film is such an unexpected hit. The expectation on the sequel was huge for me – I loved Kick Ass, it had the right balance of ridiculous violence and comedy that was rarely seen before. This sequel lost most of the humour, replaced it with more violence, and became less of a superhero parody film but instead a really mediocre, ultra-gory, plain ol’ superhero film. It didn’t seem to know what it wanted to be, and it resulted in an uninteresting story-line with even less interesting characters.
