Put in charge of his young son, Alain leaves Belgium for Antibes to live with his sister and her husband as a family. Alain’s bond with Stephanie, a killer whale trainer, grows deeper after Stephanie suffers a horrible accident.
9/10 – From the brilliant directorial mind of Jacques Audiard (A Prophet, The Beat That My Heart Skipped), Rust and Bone is an incredible piece of cinema. A mature tale of love, loneliness and family as we are led through a series of unpredictable events that forces the characters to confront their troubles. We are made to empathise with them, and what on paper appears to be quite a brutal and traumatic journey, is also much like his films before this, a pleasant and intriguing drama.
