The Beat That My Heart Skipped (2005)

73) The Beat That My Heart Skipped (2005) [De Battre mon Coeur s’est Arrêté]

Will Thomas still lead a life of crime and cruelty, just like his thuggish father, or will he pursue his dream of becoming a pianist?

8/10 – 2005 Bafta Award winner ‘The Beat The My Heart Skipped‘ is a gritty and realistic portrayal of man caught between two worlds: one fueled by a hapless devotion to his father, and the other a passion of piano. Romain Duris’s performance is gripping and powerful, in particular his scenes with his Piano tutor played by the instantly likable Linh-Dan Pham. Stylish, well directed and extremely enjoyable. Highly recommended.
