Revanche (2008)

70) Revanche (2008)

Ex-con Alex plans to flee to the South with his girl after a robbery. But something terrible happens and revenge seems inevitable.

8/10 – This is the second Austrian film I’ve watched on this challenge after Michael, and I’m glad to report this slow-paced thriller is substantially easier to digest. And much like The Silence (German), the cinematography was fantastic. A great example of European cinema. It’s restrained and unpredictable, not your typical cat & mouse thriller. It spends more time intimately developing the characters, and lets the story-line unfold naturally and gradually, rather than deliver a huge predictable twist right at the end. Highly recommended.
